What are Themes?

Themes change the visual appearance of your hunt for players. A themed hunt feels more immersive and matches your event better than the default look.

Choosing a Theme

  1. Open your hunt in the editor
  2. Click "Settings" or the gear icon
  3. Find the "Theme" section
  4. Browse available themes
  5. Click to preview, then select to apply

Available Themes

TreasureRat includes themes for various occasions:

General Themes

  • None: Clean, minimal design with no special effects - perfect for any hunt
  • Mystery: Treasure hunter's desk with lantern, parchment reveal effects
  • Pirate: Treasure map aesthetics with pirate theming
  • Space: Starfield background with shooting stars for cosmic adventures

Holiday Themes

  • Halloween: Jack-o-lantern and ember particles with parchment reveals
  • Christmas: Festive trees with falling snow effects
  • Easter: Spring meadow with butterflies and pastel colors

Event Themes

  • Birthday (Pink): Balloons and cake with pink color scheme
  • Birthday (Blue): Balloons and cake with blue color scheme

Tip: Choose a theme that matches your event or story. A pirate theme works great for a beach treasure hunt!

Theme Elements

Themes can customize:

  • Colors: Background, text, buttons, and accents
  • Fonts: Text styling throughout the hunt
  • Background: Images or patterns behind content
  • Animations: Falling snow, floating hearts, etc.
  • Sounds: Background music or completion sounds
  • Icons: Custom progress indicators and badges

Previewing Themes

Before committing to a theme:

  1. Click on a theme to see a preview
  2. The preview shows how clues will appear
  3. Check both light and dark mode if applicable
  4. Try the "Preview Hunt" feature to see it in action

Theme Availability

All themes are available to all users, regardless of hunt tier. Themes help personalize your hunt without affecting pricing.

Tips for Choosing Themes

  • Match the occasion: Birthday party? Use the Birthday theme
  • Consider your audience: Kids love colorful, animated themes
  • Think about readability: Ensure text is easy to read
  • Test on mobile: Most players will use phones

Note: Themes with animations may use more battery on players' devices. Consider this for longer hunts.
