Getting Started

Create your first treasure hunt in minutes

What is a Hunt?

A hunt is a treasure hunt experience you create for players to enjoy. Each hunt contains a series of clues that players solve to progress through the adventure.

Creating Your First Hunt

  1. Sign in to TreasureRat using your Google, Apple, or email account
  2. Click "Create Hunt" from your dashboard
  3. Give your hunt a name (e.g., "Birthday Treasure Hunt")
  4. Optionally add a description that players will see when they start
  5. Click "Create" to start adding clues

Adding Clues

Once your hunt is created, you'll be taken to the hunt editor where you can add clues.

  1. Click "Add Clue"
  2. Choose a clue type (Question, Find, or Location)
  3. Enter your clue text - this is what players will see
  4. Set up the answer (text input or multiple choice)
  5. Optionally add a hint to help stuck players
  6. Click "Save Clue"

Repeat this process to add more clues. Players will see clues in order, one at a time.

Tip: Start with 5-10 clues for your first hunt. You can always add more later!

Testing Your Hunt

Before sharing with players, test your hunt:

  1. Click "Preview" in the hunt editor
  2. Play through each clue to make sure answers work correctly
  3. Check that hints are helpful but not too revealing
